Protect Your Eyes From Harmful Blue Light
With growing dependency on devices such as computers and mobiles, our eyes have never been more exposed to the harmful blue rays. Blue light emitted from digital devices strains our eyes, and over the years, this light significantly weakens our eye muscles.
Symptoms of Digital Eye Strain:
- Blurry vision
- Long term eye damage and even vision loss
Whether you wear eyeglasses, contact lenses or go without, you need to start protecting your eyes with digital block lenses during prolonged digital use. Read more to learn about the risks of exposure to blue light, and how digital block provides the best solution to your eye care needs.
What is blue light?
Blue light isn’t some special form of light that only comes from computers and LED lights - it’s actually all around us. In fact, sunlight is the main source of blue light and that’s the reason the sky appears blue. The short blue wavelengths collide with air particles, which causes the blue light to scatter and makes us process the sky as blue.
In today’s world, there are an increasing amount of artificial sources of blue light and we interact with many of them on a daily basis, like laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Why is it harmful?
The light spectrum consists of UV, visible light & infrared light. Each of these contain different amounts of energy. The blue/violent band of visible spectrum is called high energy visible (HEV) light as it has the highest frequency when compared to other colours.
While the cornea and lens of the eye are effective at blocking UV rays from reaching our light-sensitive retinas, almost all visible blue light passes through these barriers, which could reach and damage the delicate retina.
But in this day and age, where many of us spend hours in front of computer screens at work and use our mobile devices throughout the day, cutting down significantly on screen time isn’t always an option.
So what’s the solution?
Blue Block lenses! These lenses protect your eyes & reduce the amount of harmful blue light rays that reach your retina, thus helping you relax your vision reducing digital eye strain.
